So everyone has that list of hobbies or interests that they don’t have time to do or are to afraid to admit to do. You may not be the best at it, but it really irks you when you see others having the time of the life with it. Not in a, “OMG. I could be so much better than them, it’s mahhh time 2 shine. #yolo”. Just in a, “Why am I sitting around here on Reddit instead of doing this?”.
Here’s my list:
I love to sing and write music: After years of playing and studying classical piano, it seems like a natural progression right? It’s pretty embarassing, but I’ve accumulated dozens of notebooks of lyrics and accompaniment I’ve written. At first, they were very Tori Amos inspired songs, and they later became a lot more personal. Of course, I’m not some closeted Mariah Carey level vocalist or Bob Dylan esque songwriter. Now I just sing to myself in the privacy of my room like a teenaged girl.
This is what dreams are made of. LOL
I love to write: Before I was a university student, I would spend a bulk of my time writing poetry and memoirs. I took the latter a lot more seriously. I wrote diaries and blogs about art, music, design. Then there were my passive-agressive Asian girl rants about school, Western society, and stupidity. Ahh, those were fun to write. Technically, I’m writing now, but I feel like it doesn’t have the same level of introspection as what I’ve previously written. By the way, I’m not some ubber jaded, tortured soul! Well, I’d like to think I am to a tiny extent haha.
Baddest bitch right here
Anyways, that’s the end of my list. Maybe I’ll revisit these things one day… when I’m going through some kind of mid-life crisis or am bored out of my mind staring at a computer screen. Here’s some classic Tori Amos!
